Data Retention Notice

How ChatPay keeps, protects and disposes of personal, financial, compliance and operational records.

Last updated: 12 September 2026

We keep records for no longer than needed for service, legal, regulatory, security, audit and dispute purposes. A legal hold, investigation or longer statutory requirement may extend a period.

Typical retention periods

  • Customer identification and KYC records: at least five years after the relationship ends.
  • Transaction and payment records: at least five years after the transaction.
  • AML investigation and reporting records: at least five years after closure or filing.
  • Customer complaints and dispute records: five years after resolution.
  • Contracts and service agreements: seven years after termination.
  • Audit records: seven years; governance records may be retained permanently.
  • Security and system logs: normally at least one year; confirmed breach records normally at least five years.

Secure storage

Access is limited by role and business need. Appropriate technical and organisational safeguards are used for records held by ChatPay and required service providers.

Deletion and anonymisation

When a retention period ends and no legal hold applies, records are securely deleted, destroyed or irreversibly anonymised. Deleting a ChatPay profile cannot immediately remove records we must retain by law.
